Vanessa is a Honors Work-Based Learning student interning alongside of doctors and nurses at Specialty Orthopedics of Georgia. Vanessa is a Junior who is completing her Healthcare Career Pathway and has a genuine interest in this industry. During her time at the clinic she rotates between doctors, nurses and clinic managers who help her learn all aspects of the healthcare industry.

Jorge Banda is a Senior and is a first year student in the Honors Work-Based Learning Program. Jorge has completed the Sports Medicine Career Pathway and has a career interest in Athletic Training/Physical Therapy.

During his Senior year (Class of 2020), Alex Ibarra interned with Oakwood Tire to gain more mechanic skills. He worked 20+ hours a week in a non-paid internship in order to get his foot in the door and make a good impression.

Angelie is completing the Public Safety Pathway and is in her 2nd semester interning with the Municipal Court. Her boss, Taylor Ewing, was quoted as saying “Angelie is amazing. She works hard, is a great asset to our team, and we love being around her.” She is also a part of the city's Police Explorer Program. Angelie has already been offered a job upon graduation and wants to continue to pursue her dream of being an FBI Agent.

Bryan Lopez is a stellar WBL student in the Manufacturing pathway at Gainesville High School. Bryan is a junior in high school and works at Kubota. Dylan Smith is a 2019 Work-Based Learning graduate. While in WBL his senior year Dylan worked at Thomasville Toyota as an Oil Technician. Since graduating Dylan has accomplished so much. Toyota paid for him to complete his mechanic certification and Dylan now a team leader of his own team. 

Josue Frayle is interested in construction, specifically carpentry. He gets satisfaction when building projects come to a conclusion – he likes seeing things built.

Josue has a reputation for being a bit of a jokester and enjoys a good laugh. During the internship, however, he learned that playing around in the shop or on the job site could cause injury, so it is important to take a safe approach. These two young men are enterprising entrepreneurs, who opened their own business in April, 2019. Their business, Clean Canz, is a trash bin liner subscription service. Their main goal is to eliminate the smell and disease from large sanitation trash bins. For the third year, the Bank of America Foundation generously provided funding to Goodwill to allow for youth to explore career options via internship programs. From July to December 2019, the teams at eight Goodwill career centers supervised the 68 youth who participated. A total of 10,364 hours were worked.

Covington Fire Chief Jeremy Holmes contacted the NCSS in April of 2019 about creating a partnership in order to start a fire cadet program. Chief Holmes sent employees to Texas during the summer of 2019 to be trained on the curriculum for the fire cadet program. CHS hosts a business industry panel to inform students of job opportunities in Cairo

I am currently working at Azalea Health. My duties are to complete various tasks related to our Revenue Cycle Management service, including general data entry into web-based software/applications, medical claim generation and submission, payment processing and reconciliation, financial reporting, analytical decision making, and data visualization. This job will allow a doorway of opportunities to be opened. It will give me experience working with computers and valuable life skills.

I currently shadow at Dr. Griner's. My current duties are to visit patient rooms and assess their condition with the doctor. I have been given the opportunity to learn about their diagnoses and prognoses. I see patients that range in age from four days old to 90 years old. In the future, I would like to become a pediatric surgeon. This current job is a way for me to learn about patient care, different illnesses, and learn how an office environment works.

Jacob completed the Logistics pathway at Effingham College and Career Academy. 

Through the WBL program, Jacob was able to participate in the Youth Apprenticeship program at Gulfstream.

While at Gulfstream, Jacob worked in the tool room where he provided support for the engineers.  His duties included inventorying of tools, calibrating tools, and providing assistance to the engineers.

I work at Valdosta Animal Hospital. I do many daily tasks, such as feeding, weighing, and taking the temperature of animals. I even assist in giving medication, or providing nursing care before and after surgery. I plan on becoming a Veterinarian myself, so with this job I am learning as much hands on as I can! 

Bri completed the Patient Care Fundamentals pathway and received her Patient Care Technician certification.  Through WBL she was able to intern at Effingham County Middle School with the school nurse her 11^th grade year and with the Springfield Elementary school nurse her senior year.  Her duties included charting, vitals, strep and flu tests, and general first aid tasks.

Black Crow Media, the preeminent media and communications power in the South, partnered early in the school year with the Lowndes High School Work-based Learning program. They hired Jonathan Frazier as their in-house graphic designer.  Jonathan designs everything from web-based ads and large-format banners to coupons and business cards.

Deana Harper, a lifelong resident of North Georgia, currently serves as the CTAE Administrator and Career Specialist at North Hall High School in Gainesville, Georgia. She received her undergraduate degree from the American College of Education. Her original degree was Business Education, but she worked in industry for 10 years before beginning her teaching career. This year will complete 22 years of teaching, all at North Hall High School.
